Flower shop help?

Hi- I work in a flower shop and am learning as I go. My boss is very easy going and hired me to take care of the shop itself but also teach me design as I go along. I am currently learning how to use the cash register and credit card scanner, as well as taking orders, plus designing--I am also trying to learn flowers so I can identify them, and also learn how to care for each type. It is a little overwhelming; can someone help me with the learning process and/or offer some "flower shop" tips a.k.a, small flower care secrets or flower cutting tricks or any other tip on routine flower care jobs. Thanks a million!!

The other answers were so rude. I too am a part-time floral designer that learned on the job. I have worked at it now for 2 years. I tried memorizing flowers from a book by identifying them, but the best way to learn is just by doing. Observe the florist at work and get her to tell you the name of the flower as she is using it. each season there are a select same few flowers that are in stock at wholesale houses. Learn just those for that season. Try to learn the basic filler flower names such as babies breath, tree fern, wax flower, snap dragons and bells of Ireland.

You will learn....it takes time. Get ready for valentines day.....the busiest floral day of the year!
Reply:Good question
Reply:ask your boss to teach you, go to your local library and learn yourself.
