Reply:Ladybirds (called Ladybugs in America) are a sign of prosperity and good fortune. For English and French farmers (especially French wine makers), ladybirds signal fair weather. If you can get her some jewellery with a ladybird on it, I think it would be a sweet way of wishing her luck.

Reply:Well, it depends on what your friend likes! Obviously flowers are out of the question, but what about a nice bottle of wine? Is she a chocolate lover? What is something she enjoys but doesn't indulge in often? I love wine, so I would appreciate a bottle of wine as a gift ;-)
