Go to http://www.score.org/ to find the nearest SCORE chapter. In the upper left hand corner is a box to enter your zip code. Your nearest SCORE chapter will be on the next screen. Contact them to arrange for a free one on one meeting with a SCORE counselor about starting your flower and gift shop.

While your are researching, you should also consider advertising over the Internet. You would a pre-designed, automated, income-generating website. Not just any type of website. There only one that stands above the rest. It help you make extra income from other sources related to your store.

Also, you will need to learn Internet marketing to become successful over the Internet.

Get all the info here...

In response to your question...
Reply:yes you do need to know a lot about it like who you're going to purchase your gifts from and how much you're going to add to the price that you paid for said gifts, and how you are going to get the money to by the supples for the flowers, and how you're going to let people know about your bussiness. there are many things you need to do but if you pull through alive you should have fun the rest of the way
Reply:I would find a lawyer and or accountant to talk to about what it takes to own/operate a business.
Reply:You should take some classes in flower arranging.
Reply:check the walls of a flouriest and see business license and taxes food and drug because it is a plant-place to get flowers on call coolness-many things in this area.
Reply:The 1st thing and maybe most important thing you need to know is that over 90% of new small businesses fail in the first year.

2nd, look around town. Are there any flower shops that have been open for more than 5 years?
Reply:I would contact your local SBA. As far as certifications I would have one or employ somebody with one. Remember you as a business owner will be extremly busy.
Reply:First, always know that it will cost more than you ever anticipate for daily expenses.

Second, if you have a natural talent, you don't have to get special training but you may wish to read/study alot to improve your natural abilities and expand your ideas.

Third, talk to someone professionally that is in a stable business so you can learn about aspects of running a business that you may not have considered.

And last, get a reliable accountant to advise you.

Can a flower shop survive by just selling single stems and not doing events?

I think it would be a great idea to open a flower shop where people could pop in and get some fresh flowers for their house, their wife, on the way to see a friend or for whatever reason. In the US I don't see any shops like this.. florists get caught up in doing events like weddings, funerals, and other occasions. They really do not promote selling single stems. They only want to do large events.

Sure grocery stores sell flowers, but a shop can have a much better selection and you can build a boquet with whatever you want. I am in Japan now and flower shops are on every corner- they are like starbucks. But they all seem to stay in business. And I know that I personally love how easy and affordable it is to get fresh flowers. And I know that maybe in the US such a variety of fresh flowers isn't as easy or cheap for a flower shop to stock... And you would have to get a prime location for "popping in".

But Is this even possible to do in the US or would you go out of business?

Can a flower shop survive by just selling single stems and not doing events?
Hi There,

Good Post! I love everything about business, escpecially the marketing and advertising parts. These things make or break a business. I've found many ways to advertise my business that might help you. If you have a website, try SEO and PPC (pay per click from Google Adwords).

If you advertise your business offline, try handing out flyers, printing coupons, and yellowpage advertising).

The best method I've found yet is to buy business cards and hand them out everwhere. I buy them from a place online that gives the cards for free and only charges for shipping and handling. I hand these out to everyone I meet, and I leave them on cars where ever I go (I also got a free business card holder that looks really impressive)!

Take care and good luck with your business!

How long can an Orchid (Or another flower) last submerged under water?

I want to create a floral fish display, with a submerged flower anchored down in small glass pebbles and a floating candle on top with little fish swimming around the submerged flower. I have spoken to the Pet Shop man and bought appropriate little fish, and have safe floating candles. All thats left is I'm not sure how often I would have to replace a submerged flower, I'm thinking of using orchids. any ideas which flowers would last longest under water?

How long can an Orchid (Or another flower) last submerged under water?
All organics including flowers will sufficate when immersed. I am sure you would not want to deal with the rot and decay.

There are realistic plastic and/or silk flowers that would do the job.
Reply:Each condition is different. You will only find your answer if you try out your ideas.

you can't succeed without the location though. So tell me why your location and experience give me a chance at this in the face of flowers being sold in every supermarket in the city.

Roughly how much money is needed to open a small scale flower shop or a floral design school?

Roughly how much money is needed to open a small scale flower shop or a floral design school?

Depends on your area. Find a high traffic location first, you will need to pay first month (and last months rent in most cases) up front plus a security deposit of 1 ½ times the rent Here in North West New Jersey it’s about a $1 a Square foot (Some landlords base there calculations on frontage, the amount of glass in the front of your store) Plus your share of taxes, Snow removal, Common Area lighting, trash ect. So if you rent a 1000sq foot store it Approx $1400 per month with fees. $3500.00 (approx at lease signing)

You will need a lawyer to review your lease, Approx $400.00

You will need a refrigeration Two door display $2500, three door display $3500 or walk in Display cooler $10K to 12K. Customer Coolers will be more

Phones – I recommended a two line roll-over (if line one is busy it will ring on line two) $50.00 per month + $200 deposit for new accounts

Work Tables – Make your own (remember florist tables are taller then normal tables 38 to 40”) Approx $400.00

Opening Supplies – Ribbons, Knives, paper, cheap vases ect. $500.00

Checks from the bank - $75.00

Credit card termial + Application Fee$450 to $650

Electric – Approx $350.00 per month (much more in the summer time)

Regersting you business name $35.00

Applications and permits for signage $150. plus a night in front of your towns zoning board sub-committee.

Paint, Cleaning supplies, light bulbs (to make the place look goo before you open). $150-$200

Counter for Cash register – made your self $300 Purchased $1000

Cash register - $250.00

Display Racks/tables – For those cheap vase you bought $500.00

Business insurance - $800.00

I would say you need Approx $12,000 to open if you use your own car for deliverys (if Not then add another $18,000 for a van and to have it lettered) This is before you buy one flower, Flower stock has to moved or tossed every three days.

If you deceide that you are going to give it a try I would suggest that you ask your landlord for one month free rent (most will give you this), Order your refrigeration as soon as you sign your lease. They will need lead time to make it. Make cardboard templetes of your major items; Cooler, work Tables and front table for your cash register – So you can get a feel for flow, and have one year worth of rent stashed away for the slow times. Good luck.

Roughly how much money is needed to open a small scale flower shop or a floral design school?
Twice as much as you expect, if your expectations are reasonable. Check out one of the staring your own business guides available at your local bookstore. Read it cover to cover and get ready for a rude awakening.

Which business would work out better, flower shop or gift shop?

please help me!

Which business would work out better, flower shop or gift shop?
I own a Floral Shop that also sells gifts... DO BOTH!!!

Many times we put gift items into the flower arrangements.

Also... providing both gives your customers more choices.
Reply:With a gift shop, you could offer a lot more products such as flowers, balloons, toys, holiday items, present wrapping, etc... and then you wouldn't be so dependent on customers who only need flowers.

Then again, you could do wedding flowers as a specialty flower business and make a lot of $$$. I worked for my friend who owns a wedding floral biz and he works out of his garage so he doesn't even need to rent a shop.

Good luck!
Reply:well, which do you like better? i think there are lots of flower shops. if you do a gift shop, make it unique, different from the others. offer special services that others don't. you can even offer plants %26amp; flowers in it and you would have the best of both. good luck!!
Reply:it really depends on a lot of factors like location, cost of rent, etc. etc. Flowers are perishable, though. You might consider that.
Reply:i would think a gift shop because you can put flowers in it and double your business

What is a good name for a flower shop?

Here's a different approach. Invite over about ten of your best friends for a wine tasting party at your house early in the evening and make sure you have a designated driver or two. After everyone has had a glass or two, and start to giggle tell them you are looking for a name for your flower shop.

You'd be surprised at how creative they become. The more they giggle the more chance there is of something very good coming out of it.

Get several names you like because the challenge will be to find a name that is also available as a web site name. The moment you settle on something, do a search at http://www.godaddy.com to see if the name is available. If you are very lucky and it is, available, buy it immediately. The price is usually less than $10 and you’ll own it for at least a year.

Good Luck

What is the allusion that The flower shop FTD is trying to make with hermes?

What is the allusion that The flower shop FTD is trying to make with hermes?
Okay - he was the messenger of the gods, and he saw fleet of foot (wings on his feet). So FTD is trying to say that they will deliver flowers faster and better than anyone else, and that their flowers are fit for the "gods".
Reply:Hermes (Greek) is the messenger from the gods to humans.

FTD's is actually Mercury (Roman).

Primarily symbolizes: "Speedy delivery"

Secondary, the Mercury Network, a world wide network of florists.

Nothing more nothing less...

.
Reply:Yeah, I think it's Mercury.

Hermes is a bit naughty, a trickster, a thief. I don't know that you want him as a delivery boy.
Reply:speedy delivery. hermes was the messenger of the Gods and has wings on his boots which make him move FAST so FTD adopted that image to portray fast delivery

Reply:.THE best way is to go talk to a shop owner near by. BECAUSE they buy their flowers from a broker or green house. AND you need a business license.YOU also need a tax number so you can pay your state + federal taxes. GO to your bank and see about a merchant account so yo can take credit cards.THEN you need a talent or schooling and knowledge of how to arrange flowers. YOU need a wholesaler where you can buy gifts. Look in to sources where you can advertise.

I'm opening a flower shop soon, should i be scared now we're in recession?

technically we are not in a recession- while the ecconomy is poor in many areas, there are some areas and business sectors that are still thriving. If it is your dream, don't let fear of failure motivate you- go for it. It will depend on how hard you're willing to work at it. Money is cheep right now, if you can keep your overhead down, you might have an edge on your local competition.

This ecconomy is difficult, but lets be honest- most everyone is working that wants to. If someone you know wants an ipod or a big screen they can get it. Fear is relative only to who you believe (the media? doom and gloom sells) and your own self-confidence. If you have a lot of debt currently, I would re-think your plans. If your ducks are in a row, I would say go for it. The American dream is alive and well. This is still the greatest country on the planet. And we only live once- don't die thinking "what if."

Hi everyone:

I am looking for a flower shop (In Mar del Plata,

Argentina) that does local deliveries.

Any Argentinians out there? Really need to know ASAP.. my stepdad passed away and would like to send mom some flowers.

If you have any links to any website or a link to the yellowpages from there, I would appreciate it. Been unable to locate it.

Thanks

Urgent: flower shop in Argentina. Anyone?
Look in your yellow pages for a florist that wires flowers. Call them, and explain where you want to send them. They will either be able to do it from there, or know another wire service that will.

Flower and herb uses?

I'd like to know some 'recipes' using any kinds of herbs and flowers-- food recipes, potpourri recipes, facial/skin care recipes, ANY kind of home, food or body recipe. I work in a flower shop so I have access to all sorts of flowers, including dried lavender and stuff like that, and some herbs. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Flower and herb uses?
Calendula is also called pot marigold (not the same plant grown in your annual bed. Pot marigolds are smaller and more delicate in appearance than the more familiar garden Marigold)

Calendula is said to encourage healing, aid digestion, fight fungal infections and cure diaper rash, but it is also has several cosmetic uses. Calendula petals can be used to make a nourishing skin cream or cleanser (see recipe below)

NOURSHING MARIGOLD CLEANSER

4 tablespoons olive or almond oil

2 tablespoons dried pot marigold flowers

few drops of violet, orange blossom or rose water

Warm the oil in a bowl placed over a saucepan of hot water. Stir in the dried flowers and continue to heat gently for 30 minutes. Remove from heat, allow to cool, and stir in the flower water.
Reply:Lavender is fabulous! It has many uses. I make potpourri from it, by putting it in little glass jars. In my bathroom, I have a small shelf with three baby food jars (with no lids), with ribbons tied around the part where the lid would screw on. It has a pleasant scent. Another thing I do with Lavender is making drawer and closet fresheners. If you're like me, you always end up with odd socks from the wash. I take the socks with no mates and fill them with spices and herbs and flowers (cloves, lavender, and rose petals are my favorites). Then, I tie up the socks and toss them in drawers, closets and hampers to keep linens, clothes and towels smelling clean and fresh. Lavender is also delicious when added to simple white vanilla cake mix. It makes it pretty, and adds a savory taste to complement the sweet of the cake. Another flower use is to put nasturtiums in salads. They have a nutty taste.
Reply:If you have dried lavendar, make sachets - just wrap a tablespoon or so into a square of fabric and tie it up. They keep your clothes fresh in drawers and closets, and they make great gifts.

As for recipes, I love to use rosemary. Drop a long sprig in a pot of potato soup, on low for 20 minutes. Also, try making aluminum foil packets of any white fish filet, a little olive oil, pepper and a sprig of rosemary. How long to bake it depends on the type of fish and size of the filet.

And then, there's always stuffing a chicken with whatever herbs you can get your hands on - thyme, sage, rosemary, lemon balm. Just fill the cavity with fresh herbs and roast it.

The trick is to use very fresh herbs, so they don't fall apart when they get cooked. Good luck!
Reply:Wikipedia is always my first go to source on all things related to anything. If you wikipedia specific flowers or herbs it will generally give you their properties.

Potpourri for one is very easy to make, all you need to do is dry out the flowers and mix their petals together.

More specifically, you should consult these links, they could be helpful to you:

Does anyone know the average yearly income of a small flower shop owner?

Probably depends on the metro area you live in, and how much you invest into your business.

The first site cited below says $75,00-150,000, before all the overhead is subtracted.

Does anyone know the average yearly income of a small flower shop owner?
less then a large flower shop owner, and grater then a tiny flower shop owner...

Flies all over my my flower shop..i wonder how & why..?

90% of flowers in my shop are artificial ones.. the balance are fresh flowers like chrysantumum and ect. theres so much of flies and i find it so hard to get rid of it..it sits mostly on my fresh flowers.. weird.. suggestions please..Thanks!

Flies all over my my flower shop..i wonder how %26amp; why..?
What kind of flies?

If they are tiny and look like fruit flies or gnats, you might have drain flies. Drain flies breed in drains, compost buckets, and other such things, but are also attracted to flowers and fruits...and mouthwash, as I have just discovered.

Do a google on drain flies and see if this is what they might be. You'll also find some home treatment remedies if you don't want to go the exterminator route.

You can also set out a jar of vinegar and honey (or, mouthwash), and this will attract them and hopefully help keep them off your plants until you can find the source of the problem and eradicate them.
Reply:Don't ever let the water your flowers are in get even a little slimy. It's bad for the flowers anyway but more important to your problem is the fact that flies love decaying plant matter just as much as they love other forms of rot. I have to be so careful with cut flowers in the summer. Don't just add more water, drain the old stuff and keep the containers clean. A mild bleach solution and a good rinse works well..
Reply:There is one type of small fly that lives in damp soil of potted plants. Let your pots' soil get on the dry side between waterings.

Buy Insecticidal soap which comes in a spray bottle and spray the tops and bottoms of leaves on the live plants. Spray the soils' too.

Set small containers of lids or bowls of vinegar around your shop. Most of these small plant flies will go to the vinegar and be trapped or die.
Reply:Flies need something to breed in, like trash or a dead animal. Look around for something you've overlooked.

Flower Shop Profit Potential?

I'm a Realtor and my mother is looking to open a flower/gift shop - I have found her a great location for $900 including utilities. I live in a busy part of Los Angeles and there are few shops of this nature in my area - in fact whenever we have to buy gifts we have to travel about 15-20 minutes out of our way to do so. We have the money and I have calculated the cost of every gift (chocolates, balloons, and other gifts) but am having trouble estimating the cost and profit potential of the flowers themselves. Let's assume I'm in a busy area open 7 days a week and the demand for such a shop is somewhat in demand - how much am I looking to spend per month on flowers and what's the potential for income if I sell a wide variety of products such as small bouquets, large, specialty orders and things of that nature... Anyone own a shop like this that could offer me some figures? Thanks!

Flower Shop Profit Potential?
I run a business similar to this business. She can be successful but the exact figure that she will make in a month are unknown. She will need to track her P%26amp;L statements each month to come up with those figures. I make around 1K a month. But then I am jsut starting up as well. after a year her P%26amp;L statements will show what she is making and she will be better able to figure out what she will make in a year. But a lot of this will also depend on her customer service skills. She will have to be a people person and do great flower arrangements. This business is not that risky because if for some reason the space was not to work out she could always bring the business home and run it homebased. Good luck.

What is this flower called? (Picture)?

It is a bright orange flower with six petals, a dark purple center with a very interesting design to it, lots of purple pollen stems surrounding the center.. tall, too. They are all over the place where I live in northern NY.. Just can't find them in a flower shop to identify them or plant them myself. Thanks!

Flower shop roses are dying so soon...........?

Okay my fiance just got me a vase bouquet of roses on Friday and they had not get bloomed at the time (still "shut"). Today is Sunday, and the roses are already dying!!! I know roses don't really last too long, but this seems like they're wilting way to fast; and they never even opened!! Should I call the flower shop where he bought them?

Flower shop roses are dying so soon...........?
hi kelsey.

recently someone asked a similar question. i'll post my answer to them here and hope it helps.

but i would return the roses to the florist and ask for replacements. these flowers should DEFINITELY not be wilting if they are good quality roses.

when you get your replacement ones, follow the instructions below and you should have lovely blooms for a week or so.

cheers!

QUESTION (from samantha): I received a bouquet of flowers today... BUT...? like all other times... it didn't come with a packet of its food... So... I wanted to know... can I throw sugar cubes in its vase?

ANSWER: lucky you, receiving a bouquet of flowers!

and yes, you can do the sugar thing (not too much) or you can add seven-up or sprite to the water (it's the sugar in that that is good), or an aspirin ...although i don't why...

but the best thing you can do is just put a 1/4 teaspoon of bleach in atleast one litre of water.

it discourages the organisms that can clog the stems and make the flower stalk unable to take up water... thus shortening the life of the flower considerably.

i come from a european family that bought flowers every week with their groceries. flowers were as important as buying milk and bread. i still do that and i still do the bleach thing. i do it because it works! i've experimented and there's no doubt that it does lengthen the amount of time the cut flowers stay fresh and turgid and beautiful.

and yes, definitely cut the stems again, and every two or three days thereafter when you refresh the water. depending on what kind of flowers, you should cut the stems on an extreme angle (diagonally - so it has the greatest water uptake surface) and do so under water or under the tap if possible. this makes sure that the stem does not dry up at all and subsequently block the water uptake capabilities.

if you really want to be anal about it, you can put the flowers somewhere cool at night or when you're not home. the warmth of the sun and home also shortens the enjoyment span of the flowers.

long answer, but these are the tips that i think are invaluable.

enjoy your flowers!
Reply:you're very welcome!

cheers Report It

Reply:I can't believe some of the hoodoo folks fall for!!! Report It

Reply:Try clipping an inch or so off the bottoms of the stems and putting them in fresh water; no guarantees, but it might help a bit. It's possible that they got too cold at some point; I'd certainly expect them to last more than 48 hours, so a call to the florist might not be a bad idea.

Good luck!
Reply:When you get roses you should cut the stems by 1/2 inch to open them to take up water. Bacteria cause the stem to close up, so the use of packaged flower "food" usually provided with fresh flowers is advisable. Use half a pkg, saving the rest for when you refill with fresh water. They should get fresh water every third day, and recutting the stem should prolong their water uptake, and beauty. People add a drop of dish detergent as an anti-bacterial, and 1/2 tsp sugar as a plant food in homemade flower "food."

Warm water will help them open. Cool water/air temperatures will keep them fresh longer once they open. It is likely the roses were kept in a cooler before being sold. They are often shipped to the florist "dry," and between these two conditions the blooms may have failed. Unless the florist gives a guarantee you are unlikely to get any satisfaction from complaining. However, if it makes you feel better do complain to the florist, and not to your fiance.
Reply:when buying any cut flowers, always when you get them home cut the bottoms of the stem off at an angle the more angle the more water they can suck up and have a vase ready with fresh water and put some ice cubes in it will bring the freshness back. also you must change the water everyday hope you see your roses bloom
Reply:Hi, you can call them, but you need to trim about 1/2 inch off the bottoms every day or two. Then fill the vase with fresh warm water, and put 1/4 of an aspirin in the bottom. Even better yet,a pinch of plant food, instead of the aspirin. And cut the bottoms at a 45 degree angle Under Warm Water. I had them last for two weeks that way! Byee
Reply:You're right, 2 days does sound really short. Did they include a packet to place in the water? Usually that helps to prolong the life of your bouquet.

Another trick someone taught me was placing a squirt of dish detergent into the water every 3 days. Don't know how it works, but it does.
Reply:all cut flowers are dead. sorry, trying to make them last is pretentious.

Starting a Flower Shop business in the Philippines?
The Phil. Dept of Agriculture has a good industry overview of the cutflower industry http://www.da.gov.ph/agribiz/cutflower.h... . This FAO document http://www.fao.org/docrep/005/ac452e/ac4... also discusses flower production in the Philippines, including a table of where the various types of flowers are best sourced.

For assistance, including floral suppliers, you may want to contact DA's Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service

Need to know what quanlitication you got to have to open a flower shop?

ummm, being a blooming idiot :) Actually, you would have to get a business license, etc. City court can direct you on just what's needed where you live. Be aware, there are often requirements (costly) on new busineses that are not required of existing ones..such as handicap parking, ramp access, doorways wide enough for wheelchairs. Sadly, only 3 out of 10 endeavers succeed. The main cause is poor management. Finances, work hours, employess, upkeep of premises, and yours would be a perishable commodity, prone to loss. The rule of thumb...expect no profit the first year.

I don't want you to be discouraged....I want you to be prepared so that you are one of those 3 that makes it. Good luck!

Trying to do a flower shop on myspace, and needing good ideas?

to help decorate it and also more traffic for it.we are in a small town, and know most of the locals, but how do we get other people to look at it??..any help would b appreciated..thank u in advance

Trying to do a flower shop on myspace, and needing good ideas?
The trick for getting more traffic is to provide more content. Not just any content, though - it has to be targeted to a specific niche. In your case, that would have been 'valentine roses', or 'valentine flower gift baskets'.

MySpace is not the best place to do this. It's too cluttered, and gives prospects too much of a chance to go elsewhere more interesting. No amount of eye-candy, unfortunately, is going to help that.

But, it's fantastic place to network and create traffic - just drive it elsewhere, using blog entries in MySpace, that contain key word phrases, but which reference your main site.

Finally, make sure you keep current and follow the keyword trends. That'll make sure that your content matches what people want to buy _when_ they want to buy it.

Go to it, and good luck. If you need more information, drop me a line.

Best,

Guy

A flower shop has 112 orders for corsages. Three designers...?

A flower shop has 112 orders for corsages. Three designers can make 12 corsages in 2 hours. How many designers are needed to complete the orders in 8 hours?

I appreciate the help :)

A flower shop has 112 orders for corsages. Three designers...?
1800 flowers
Reply:7
Reply:3 designers make 12 corsages in 2 hours,

or 3 designers make 6 corsage in 1 hour,

which means, 1 designer makes 2 corsages per hour

1 desiner can make 2 x 8 = 16 corsages in 8 hours,

So, to make 112 corsages in 8 hrs, ,

112/16 = 7 designers

therefore 1 designer can make 2 in 1 hour

112/8 = 14 need per hour

so you need 7 designers!
Reply:12 corsages/ 2 hours * 3 designers = 2 corsages / designer hour

112/8hours = 14 corages / hour

14 corsage/hour / 2 corsages/ designer hour = 7 designers.
Reply:wow, those are some slow designers if they only make 2 corsages per hour!! :) one designer makes 2 corsages per hour based on that question, and they have 8 hours so that is 16 corsages per designer. Divide 112 by 16 and you have your answer. That part you have to do yourself....I'll help you but won't give you your final answer ;)
Reply:Assuming that they all work at the same speed, each corsage takes 30 min. to make.

(12/2)=6/3=2 corsages per hour.

So, 112 will take 56 hours of manpower to make.

Divide by 8. You need 7 people, each working for 8 hours can make 112.

3D = 6C /H

D = 1C in 1/2 H

A designer can make a corsage every 30 min.

XD = 112 C / 8H

112 / 8 = 14 C/H

Since D = 2 x C/H ...

It takes 7 D to make 14 C/H =112 C.
Reply:Mathematically, the answer is seven as several people have already answered.

In a real florist shop, if three designers can make only 12 corsages in 2 hours, this shop would be out of business. Experienced designers can make a corsage at a rate of 10 per hour or faster.

So under real world setting, the answer would be this: get rid of the three slow designers and hire more experienced ones. Two experienced designers should be able to make at least 140 corsages in 8 hours (including 1 hr break).

# Grow extra flowers to maximize chain bonuses (use the storage vase a lot).

# Double Click on customers so your chains don't break.

# Always start growing the most complex flowers first.

How to post an ad for selling a flower & gift shop?

Surprisingly enough many of the businesspeople that I know scan the newspaper classifieds for finds. Many of them are interested in real estate but some buy businesses as well from there. I also have seen businesses listed on www.eBay.com for sale. There are also internet classifieds that will let you post an ad for free. www.craigslist.com would be one of those.

With each of these options you wouldn't have a business broker or real estate broker taking a cut of your sale but you have the drawback of having to sell it on your own. Please consult a local business or real estate attorney for advice on preparing the sale paperwork. They might also have some more ideas on how to market your business.

I don't know if you have Sunbelt Business Advisors where you live but they are the biggest business brokerage where I live and they are nationwide. They are at www.sunbeltnetwork.com You will end up paying them a sales commission but you should have a hassle free transfer by going that route.

Best of luck in your sale!

I need some help--concerning flowers %26amp; plants! Anyone who works @ a flower shop / knows about plants %26amp; flowers
Oh, boy. Well, I think each flower shop may have their own way of taking care of flowers, so don't study up. Show willingness to learn how to do it the boss's way, and I think that's enough.

If I were you, I'd be very good at IDENTIFYING flowers, though. Stop by the flower shop a day or so before your interview, and take a good look at the flowers. You can get a book about flowers from the library, or try looking at a florist's website (like FTD florists). If your flower shop sells houseplants, take a look at those, too.

Good luck, and I hope you get the job!

Reply:Florists work in flower shops and they prepare arrangements that are either delivered individually, prepared for weddings, etc. If you don't know how to arrange flowers you will probably do other jobs and you can learn about flowers/plants as you do your job. They may just be looking for a responsible, hard working, reliable person so project that in your interview.

You would be best to be honest with those interviewing you, you can't learn all about flowers and plants on here. Cut flowers are used alot such as carnations and roses. Plants just need TLC.
Reply:In a flower shop ?? Usually the plant dish gardens come decorated for sending gifts.

Which of these catch phrases you prefer for a flower shop?

1-we design what you have in mind

2- Planning an event? we got flower for that

3- if you found us then you have came to the right place

4- its time to upgrade your standard to Sunflower florist

Which of these catch phrases you prefer for a flower shop?
Number one catches my attention, you make me feel like I am a VIP,and you are there to help me.
Reply:I think you could still do better...of any of them, I would try to do something with number 2.
Reply:Sorry but I think they have all been used. And NOOFF but they all stink. Badly. What about (assuming the name of the shop is sunflower florist) something about always sunny with sunflower florist or somethinglike that
Reply:2nd is the best among that..but i feel u can tink of many more
Reply:2 is the best on your list but it's not great by any means
Reply:I like number 2...but you can shorten it (and use the contraction we've)....How about:

"We've got a flower for that."
Reply:1 - We design what you have in mind.

That's a catchy one.

Good luck!
Reply:none of the above if you were going to rip off someone else's catch phrase and change a few words you should've done

so easy a florist can do it.
Reply:Number 1 or 2

The third one sounds like I have heard it somewhere before.
Reply:I really like number one.

If its called Sunflower florist, then how about something that has to do with sunshine?

I'm sure there are many others that you could think of.

Good luck.

What temperature is the cooler in a flower shop?

I used to keep mine between 40 and 50 degrees. Colder temps will result in frozen roses.

What temperature is the cooler in a flower shop?
It depends if they are keeping flowers cool ( 48 degrees ) or helping out the undertaker by holding a body (25 degrees )
Reply:23C (-2C from the room temp).

My flower shop will be open soon, i do have extra money from tax refund but its not enough to start..?

Banks won't let me loan money because of my low credit score. What should i do? Do i have to stop my flowers shop?Where should i get backup founding source for my store? Any suggestions?

My flower shop will be open soon, i do have extra money from tax refund but its not enough to start..?
You should open an account with the flower providers so you can get the flowers on credit. That way you can still open the shop and pay later after genterating your income.
Reply:You should have at least 6 months of money in the bank to cover expenses when opening a new business. I see it all the time. New customers open up, don;t have enough money and they are gone in a metter of months.

Do it right. Save up your money, get your credit score higher, then open your shop.
Reply:No lender will talk to you unless you provide them with a valid business plan. Go to http://www.sba.gov , http://www.score.org or http://www.bplan.com for sample business plans and instructions on how to write a business plan.

Then, go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Who do you contact regarding getting charged twice? My checkcard was used at a flower shop and the?

transaction is showing up twice on my bank account statement; who do I call to resolve the issue? As soon as the bank opens I plan on calling them. Is that whom I should contact?

Who do you contact regarding getting charged twice? My checkcard was used at a flower shop and the?
Contact the bank first and then the flower shop and tell them of the error.
Reply:Yes, contact the bank as soon as possible to challenge the charge and also call the flower shop. The shop should process a refund to your card. They may have to see the statement and your card in order to do this. If they refuse (which should be unlikely) then you have to continue to work with the bank. It will be easier to do this if you notify them asap.
Reply:Sometimes flower shops will charge you twice, they will charge for the items you purchased then charge you a smaller amount for tax and stuff like that, If the charged you the same amount twice then you need to contact the bank and the flower shop :)
Reply:Contact your bank's customer service department.
Reply:yeah, the bank is who issued your card

What are the questions can be ask in flower shop feasibility?

Please give me ideas for a flower shop, something fun, fresh, and hip.

Ideas for a flower shop's name?
Here's my penny's worth:

"Flora": the Roman goddess of flowers, or of the flowering of plants.

"KHLORIS": the Greek goddess of flowers.

A combination like "Flora's Fountain", or "Khloris' Garden".

The name of a flower YOU love.

An alliterative name, like "FlowerFlow".

Or a coined name, like "Flowerique" (flower + boutique/unique) or "Colouroma" (colour + aroma)

START WITH SOME FLOWERS
Reply:Go to a flower shop and get hands-on training.
Reply:What you want to do is research growers in your area. Then set up a time you can go visit them and see what they have to offer. How much etc. Then look for a empty building somewhere and rent it.Fix it up.Then put in your coolers.Name your business.Get an attorney to Incorporate it.Then advertise for help.Hire 2 workers and 2 drivers. Then get the flowers delivered to you then put them in some vases and sell them.Do not pay yourself for the first year. Then you want to get up with a company who delivers flowers globally and place orders though them,on-line,like e-flowers.com.Of course do not forget to place an add in the Yellow Pages. Also you may earn some extra cash while you are doing all this at www.andyhinson.com.Good Luck!!and PEACE.

Lighting a Flower Shop.?

how should i design a lighting layout for a flower shop? what is the best fixture to use? what should i bear in mind while planning?

Lighting a Flower Shop.?
I would use track lighting so you can focus some lights on some displays. I would also use natural light light bulbs. A few common area recessed lights would be good also. You could go with all recessed lights that can be focused on different displays.
Reply:if f/l tubes use colour matching tubes

low voltage lamps use dichoric lamps ( will be on box) this type of lamp helps bring out the colours on what they are illuminating. best to have fittings with built in transformers as lamps are cheaper to replace and use wide angle version, can use narrow ones to highlight displays. good luck
