A flower shop has 112 orders for corsages. Three designers...?

A flower shop has 112 orders for corsages. Three designers can make 12 corsages in 2 hours. How many designers are needed to complete the orders in 8 hours?

I appreciate the help :)

Reply:3 designers make 12 corsages in 2 hours,

or 3 designers make 6 corsage in 1 hour,

which means, 1 designer makes 2 corsages per hour

1 desiner can make 2 x 8 = 16 corsages in 8 hours,

So, to make 112 corsages in 8 hrs, ,

112/16 = 7 designers
Reply:3 designer = 12 in 2 hours

therefore 1 designer can make 2 in 1 hour

112/8 = 14 need per hour

so you need 7 designers!
Reply:12 corsages/ 2 hours * 3 designers = 2 corsages / designer hour

112/8hours = 14 corages / hour

14 corsage/hour / 2 corsages/ designer hour = 7 designers.
Reply:wow, those are some slow designers if they only make 2 corsages per hour!! :) one designer makes 2 corsages per hour based on that question, and they have 8 hours so that is 16 corsages per designer. Divide 112 by 16 and you have your answer. That part you have to do yourself....I'll help you but won't give you your final answer ;)
Reply:Assuming that they all work at the same speed, each corsage takes 30 min. to make.

(12/2)=6/3=2 corsages per hour.

So, 112 will take 56 hours of manpower to make.

Divide by 8. You need 7 people, each working for 8 hours can make 112.
Reply:3D= 12C /2H

3D = 6C /H

D = 1C in 1/2 H

A designer can make a corsage every 30 min.

XD = 112 C / 8H

112 / 8 = 14 C/H

Since D = 2 x C/H ...

It takes 7 D to make 14 C/H =112 C.
Reply:Mathematically, the answer is seven as several people have already answered.

In a real florist shop, if three designers can make only 12 corsages in 2 hours, this shop would be out of business. Experienced designers can make a corsage at a rate of 10 per hour or faster.

So under real world setting, the answer would be this: get rid of the three slow designers and hire more experienced ones. Two experienced designers should be able to make at least 140 corsages in 8 hours (including 1 hr break).
